Backups not required. But only if you use DOS!!

If this doesn’t count as disaster recovery, then I don’t know what does.  An engineer has been able to recover significant data off a hard disk drive that fell to earth from the shattered and burnt NASA space shuttle Columbia.

This Wired article describes the incredible luck – in significant part due to the use of the venerable DOS.  I guess faster is not always better!
