I was recently alerted to an interesting YouTube video of US Congressman Ted Poe addressing congress on the topic of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs).  Whilst governments around the world begin to favour outright bans on the humble incandescent lamp, Congressman Poe highlights some of the pitfalls of the vaunted replacement and saviour of the world’s energy supplies.

Since passing on a link to this video I have been alerted to a substantial store of information and discussion about the large number of issues with this technology.  There’s no argument that they use less power, but at what cost?
