Attracting force
October 4th was a day I had been looking forward to for quite a while now. I was looking forward to it long before I even knew that the date would be October 4th. For on that day came the release of Miriam Clancy’s brand new album, Magnetic.
A friend turned me on to Miriam’s music about mid 2007. I forget what we were talking about, but he said to check her music out, I did, and within a couple of days I had my own copy of her debut album. Lucky One was released in 2006, so I was a bit late to that party. I have been adoring Miriam’s music ever since. So much so, I sought and was granted permission to play it on my podcast. The podcast is in a bit of a hiatus at the moment as I work through a reinvention. I hope I will be able to include material from Magnetic when the time comes.
So, why do you want to listen to Magnetic? Nick Bollinger, in his Sampler program on NZ National radio said
One of the handful of essential local albums this year
Russell Baillie of the NZ Herald wrote a story entitled “A voice to move mountains”.
But rather than let such cultured folks make your decisions for you, check her out for yourself. I’m sure you can find your way to iTunes or your local music shop, but check out Magnetic on Amplifier where you can play the entire album. There’s a buy button right there too!
While you’re there, you may as well check out Lucky One, which still stands up well even after Magnetic has stormed the scene.
